Although Mr P initially dismissed the criticism, telling detractors, "Again and again. Who Nigerian language help? If e pain you, go hit your head for wall," he has now reversed his stance and issued a public apology.

In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, the former P-Square member expressed regret over his choice of words.

"If my response to 'Who Naija language help?' upset some people, I apologise and take full responsibility for my words. That does not mean I hate our Nigerian languages or culture."

He also clarified that his comment was not directed at the Igbo language in particular.

"At no point did I say I hate the Igbo language or Igbo culture. I said 'Naija language,' referring to the different languages in Nigeria, but some individuals twisted it and made it seem like I specifically mentioned Igbo. I didn't," he stated.

His apology has since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians accepting his explanation while others insist his original remarks were insensitive.
